Hello, y’all, and welcome back to Top 5 Tuesday, hosted by Shannah @ Bionic Book Worm! I feel like it’s been a long time since I’ve posted one of these, and I honestly am so excited to start scheduling them and getting my blog back to the well-oiled posting-machine that I had in September/October. I kinda let things slip over the winter break, but not any more.
This week’s topic is 5 books on my 2018 bucket list. Without further ado, let’s take a look…
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I’ve had this on my TBR for a while, to be honest, but I hadn’t gotten around to either borrowing it from the library or picking it up at the bookstore. Luckily, my mother got me the box set with Crooked Kingdom in it as well, so I’ve got a nice set of books to start the new year off right with!
Sycamore by Bryn Chancellor
This is a book that my old creative writing professor wrote and published last year. I bought it when it first came out, but have not yet gotten around to reading it. (I know, shame on me!) This is going to be one of the first books I read this year, just to do her some justice. I am really excited for this one.
Ghost Brigades by John Scalzi
This is the sequel to Old Man’s War, which I reviewed last summer. I’m looking forward to getting back into Scalzi’s intergalactic war and figuring out what’s going to happen to our characters from the first novel. It’s the second book in a series; I believe there are five books total. This is also your weekly reminder that you should be reading The Android’s Dream by Scalzi as well, since it’s one of my favorite books.
It Devours by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor
This is the second Welcome to Night Vale book that has been released; I also bought this on its release date but I have yet to open it. Having all of the Austen books to read for class last semester totally killed any sort of free reading I had. I mean, I’m going to have even more Vonnegut books to read this semester, but here’s hoping they’re not as difficult to get through as Mansfield Park, at least… Welcome to Night Vale is one of my favorite podcasts (and I honestly need to catch up on it) and any extra content from the world is pretty much gold in my book.
The Redwall Series by Brian Jacques
This is a little different; this year, I am going to finish off the Redwall series by Brian Jacques and complete my collection. I got two more of the books for Christmas, so I am halfway to owning every single one of them. They’re really quick reads, but they’re also pretty heart-wrenching and they’re deep, too.
So there you have it! While it may not be strictly five books, per se, at least I’ve got a list of where I’m starting. I’m also going to be attempting the PopSugar challenge, if I can ever get the list printed out and written down somewhere where I can keep track of it. (Honestly, why is it so hard for me to keep up with everything nowadays?)
